How It Began...

When the world shut down in 2020, Chris started dreaming about van life and went to the one place you can watch people do anything...

Then, one day, the algorithm recommended a video interview of a couple who lived on a sailboat - with a baby. Chris thought, "If they can live on a sailboat with a baby, we can totally live on a sailboat without a baby!"

So began the obsession.

He tried to get me to buy into the idea, but there were too many questions for this land-locked country girl...

How would we be comfortable on a boat?

Don't only people with lots of money own boats?

What about our kids?

Isn't it dangerous?

But neither of us even know how to sail!

After a couple weeks of this, Chris had enough. He interrupted one of my interrogation sessions and said

Just Dream With Me!!

I realized then that this wasn't a passing curiosity. This was something Chris truly wanted for our future. So I switched off my overthinker and told him to press play.

Twenty-something minutes later, I was in.

I turned my hyperfocus research brain to sailing mode

and began to find answers to my question cornucopia.

It's now 2022 and we've made amazing progress towards living on a floating home. We're still in the early stages, and have A LOT left to learn, but the bottom line is we're doing it. We're not just dreaming any more. We're actively pursuing this once seemingly unobtainable goal. I'm excited to see where the winds take us and what kind of adventures we'll find.
